School

Applying for a school place:

If your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31 August 2023 your child will start school in the 2027/2028 school year.

Applications will be taken by the Local Authority between September and December 2026.

Beighton Nursery Infants adheres to the Sheffield Pupil Admissions Policy from the Local Authority. Parents/carers should apply for school places via Sheffield City Council.

On their website you will find the Local Authority policy for admissions as well as guidance for parents/carers on the admissions process. It also provides information on the application process, catchment areas, online application forms, over subscription, admissions policy and appeals.

Mid-Year Transfers:

All transfers between schools are handled by Primary Admissions at Sheffield City Council. A Common Transfer form can be collected from our school office.

Foundation (Nursery)

Butterflies Class for 3-4 Year Olds

The majority of children will start with us in the September after their 3rd birthday and we can offer the following sessions (whilst available):

• 30 hour place (working parent entitlement) – 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (if you use your full 30 hours with us, you actually get 35 free)

• 15 hour morning place - 8.30am to 11.30am, Monday to Friday (at the age of 3, all children are entitled to 15 free funded hours)

• 15 hour afternoon place - 12.30pm to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday

• A variation of the above by mutual agreement

Funding Information:

At the age of 3, all children are entitled to 15 free funded hours.

Working parents may be entitled to 30 free funded hours

Any non-funded sessions will be charged in line with the Local Authority base rate: April to March 2026-2027 = £5.61.

Caterpillars Class for 2 - 3 Year Olds

The majority of children will start with us in the September after their 2nd birthday and we can offer the following sessions (whilst available):

• 30 hour place (with a valid qualifying code) – 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (if you use your full 30 hours with us, you actually get 35 free)

• 15 hour morning place - 8.30am to 11.30am, Monday to Friday

• 15 hour afternoon place - 12.30pm to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday

• A variation of the above by mutual agreement

Funding Information:

Not all 2 year olds are entitled to 15 free funded hours.

Funding may be available to those on certain benefits.

Working parents may be entitled to 30 free funded hours

Any non-funded sessions will be charged in line with the Local Authority base rate: April to March 2026-2027 = £8.28.

Important Additional Points

• Parents must establish their individual entitlement at the Government Website: https://www.gov.uk/free-childcare-if-working/check-youre-eligible

• Our nursery provision operates for term-time only in alignment with the school year.

• If capacity allows, children may be able to start with us in the January or April after their 2nd or 3rd birthday. 

• We do not charge for non-food consumables.

• Application forms can be downloaded here or collected from our school office.

• Please be aware that it is the Local Authority that allocates school places so a place in our nursery, does not necessarily guarantee admission into school.
