RE

At Beighton Nursery Infant School we follow the Sheffield SACRE syllabus. The aim of this syllabus within Religious Education is that pupils will know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews and will express ideas and insights of their own into the significant human questions which religions address.  At Beighton Nursery Infant School we aim to help children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and the other principal religions represented in Great Britain.

We want our children to begin to understand the way that religious beliefs shape our lives and our behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Our focus is to teach children:

  • About a range of religions and world views

  • To express ideas and insights about nature, significance and impact of religions and world views

  • Gain and utilise the skills for learning from religions and world views

Religious education therefore has an important role in preparing pupils at Beighton for adult life, employment and life-long learning.
