Computing
At Beighton Nursery Infant School, we understand the immense value that technology plays not only in supporting the Computing and whole school curriculum, but overall in the day-to-day life of our school. To ensure high standards of teaching and learning in Computing, we implement a curriculum that is progressive throughout the whole school. Our curriculum is ambitious, accessible, engaging and provides each child with a variety of broad and balanced learning opportunities. As a school we pride ourselves on supporting children’s learning both in school and at home. We focus on building a safe environment for children to become computational thinkers, digitally literate and active participants in a digital world.
In KS1 we use the Sheffield Schools scheme of work for Computing. This enables us to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum, whilst providing our children with a program of learning that is in keeping with the context of our school. Our children in the Foundation stage focus on the basic key skills required to access the curriculum in Year 1 as well as being given the opportunity to build on and develop prior knowledge.
Our Computing Curriculum and teaching is high quality, ambitious and is planned to demonstrate progression and build on and embed current skills. We aim to equip our children with the capability to use technology successfully in their further education and throughout their lives.
