Art & Design
Art is a highly valued aspect of our curriculum. We try to develop each child’s confidence and pleasure in Art and Design through a range of activities and incorporate a rich variety of media and techniques through which children are encouraged to express their ideas, thoughts and feelings.
Our school focuses on inspirational artists to expose children to a wider understanding of the Art world creating a culture of awe, wonder and curiosity for our young learners. At Beighton Infant and Nursery school we aim to build on prior knowledge to develop new skills to deepen learning by systematically layering new knowledge on existing knowledge.
We aim to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As children progress, they think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. Our children know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our school.
